Independence Options

Independence Options is a service provided by Unity Enterprise and supported by East Dunbartonshire Council Social Work Department. The aim of the service is to support adults with learning difficulties to enable them to achieve their full potential within their local and wider community. This may include learning the skills required for living independently in their own home and/or gaining and sustaining paid employment. We offer a range of options in a supportive learning environment and encourage individuals to make real choices and meet new challenges. Unity Enterprise promotes independence as the intended outcome from the opportunities. We encourage the use of ordinary settings and services to widen the opportunities for new experience and valued relationships.

Support is provided in four different areas:

• Employment
• Education
• Leisure and Recreation
• Personal Development

Unity Enterprise also uses the ASDAN certificated award scheme which encourages participants to work within a structured programme. ASDAN is the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network.
