A charity supporting unpaid carers is to dish out cash grants for respite trips.
The Unity Enterprise Centre supports unsung heroes across South Ayrshire. And more than 200 people have benefited from £20,000 of grants within the last year.
Now an extra £12,000 has been secured to give carers a chance of their own space. The money, from the Creative Breaks Fund, is provided by the Scottish Government.
Service co-ordinator Loretta Galloway said: “Over the last two years Carer in South Ayrshire have benefited from over £30,000 of funding from Shared Care Scotland, to enjoy holidays and short breaks, in the coming year we have £12,000 to spend and we are focusing on providing a break for carers who are perhaps unable to get away fro a holiday.
“the ‘Time for Me’ project is about carers applying for something unique to them. It can be anything from a golf membership and art materials to equipment like cameras or musical instruments”.
Anyone interested in applying for a grant of up to £300 should contact the centre on 01292 263 000.
