It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that we announce the Unity Social Kitchen and Sunday Social have officially launched. Last Sunday we got the community together and launched our new projects.
I wanted to quickly share that news with you all! I for one am buzzing about this. To see an idea grow into something that will now help the community has been something incredibly exciting for us here at Unity.
The day was filled with lots of food, community, connection and conversation. We trialled serving the dishes in pots on the tables. It was like a good old ‘help yourself’ set up and it worked really well. I for one got chatting with a group who were discussing the intricacies of washing dishes with acrylic nails (Was definitely worth a chuckle)/
Our volunteers were phenomenal throughout the launch and pitched in to help cook the food and get it out to the hungry crowd. They were truly instrumental to the day being so successful so I wanted to do a special plug as it truly couldn’t have happened without them.
At the half way point we were lucky enough to have the Glasgow based – soon to be international superstar – Amber Weijzig perform a number of songs which got the crowd cheering.
Angus one of our cooks here made a mango and lemon curd custard. Wow. It was epic. I have already tried recreating it myself.
The Unity Social Kitchen has started it’s workshops – keep an eye out on social media for when these are running Facebook.
If you want to get involved in volunteering please check out our Unity website
Or if you want to donate. We would be chuffed.
