I am the registered service manager for the Empower service which is the Learning Disability service within Unity. I started with Unity in January 2022 so still fairly new to the organisation. My background has always been in health and social care and have enjoyed various positions within the sector over the past 20 plus years. I enjoy the variety this position offers, and seeing the difference we all make to the service users we support every day. The main highlight for me in my role as manager is being in the three different services and getting to know the service users really well where they feel comfortable and know they can come to me and have a bit of banter whether it be about football or their interests. I often don’t get much work done as I like to give everyone time (well that’s my excuse). I am very proud of the service, the staff and service users and look forward to growing the services to ensure we can share the joy and laughter that we create within our services.
