Hello from the Social Kitchen. It is been all go here this week:
Volunteer Recruitment Day
On Sunday we ran our volunteer recruitment day. We cooked two vegetarian curries and a banging apple crumble, then opened our doors and let people take a look around our kitchen. A massive thank you to everyone who came down and signed up to help us on this incredible project we are building together.
If you want to volunteer your time to help out it’s not to late! You can find all the information on volunteering for the Social Kitchen right here on our Volunteer page
New Spoon Café Specials Menu

This week we’ve started putting out our specials in the Spoon Café every weekday we will have a two-course menu for £5.95 available in the café. Not only are you supporting the Social Kitchen and Spoon, you are helping to support our Pay it Forward scheme. These dishes are made fresh daily in the social kitchen. The dishes change daily so there is plenty of variety. So, if you are in town and looking for a good meal and to support a good cause. Come down and grab a meal off our special’s menu. But be in quick today’s lamb shanks flew out the door.
Daily Food Challenge Update
January this year is a five-week month. So, this next week will see many digging in the couch cushions to make it through to pay day. We here at the Social Kitchen will be counting our pennies for a different reason. We are taking part in the £2.50 Daily Food Challenge (Link to previous Blog 7th Jan) So from Monday to Friday we’ll be feeding ourselves on just £2.50 a day. So stay tuned for our trials and tribulations and if you want to join us in highlighting the difficulties of those on the lowest wage and help raise money for the social kitchen all the information can be found in our last blog post here
That’s all for now folks. But keep your eyes peeled because things are really starting to heat up round here!
